Capital Cake
- 1 lb sugar
- 4 cups flour, after being sifted
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- 6 eggs, beaten light
- 2 tsps cream of tartar, sifted in the flour
- 1 tsp baking soda, dissolved in the milk
- Lemon or nutmeg flavoring
Mix all of the above ingredients together. Mix completely. Flavor with lemon or nutmeg.
