Canned Pears

  • Peaches
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of water
Pare, cut in halves and core. Throw them into cold water to prevent turning dark. Steam until you can pierce with a straw. Put in glass jars already scalded. Fill the jars within an inch of the top. Have ready boiling syrup made of 2 cups granulated sugar to 1 cup of water. Pour the syrup over the fruit, fill the jar to the top, seal air tight. When cold, wrap jars and paper and keep in a cool, dry place.
They are nicer to only prepare and steam enough for 1 jar at a time.
