  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/2 lb ham, finely chopped
  • 1 onion
  • Dash of salt
  • Dash of chili powder
  • 1 pint shrimp
  • 1/2 pint washed rice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Thyme
  • Parsley
Put the butter in a saucepan. When hot, add the chopped ham, onion, salt and chili powder. When these are well browned, add the shrimp and stir until hot. Put in the washed rice and parsley. Cover. Simmer with enough water added to cook the rice until each grain stands out alone.
