Buckwheat Cakes
- 1 coffee cup milk
- 1 coffee cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Buckwheat flour
- 1-6 cake compressed yeast
- 1/4 cake yeast foam
- 1 tablespoon warm water
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 1 well beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon molasses
One coffee cup milk, 1 coffee cup water, 1/4 teaspoon salt, pure buckwheat flour to mix thick enough batter for use, 1-6 cake compressed yeast or 1/4 cake yeast foam, dissolved in tablespoon lukewarm water; set in warm place over night. In the morning add 1/4 teaspoon soda dissolved in a little lukewarm water, then one well-beaten egg, 1 tablespoon molasses. Bake right away on hot griddle, cakes about the size of a saucer and serve hot.
