Brittle Bread
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoons butter
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2 cups buttermilk
Blend flour and butter by rubbing between the hands. Dissolve very scant measure of cream of tartar in water and mix with buttermilk; add to flour. Knead until it does not stick to hands or bowl. Roll on bread board until thin as cardboard and prick with a fork. Bake on buttered tins in medium oven. Serve with butter, peanut butter, or cheese. This should keep some time in a tin box, but do not put with your bread.
