Bread Sauce
- 1 cup stale bread crumbs
- 1 onion, finely cut
- 2 ounces butter
- Pepper
- Salt
- Mace
Boil the cut onion in milk until quite soft. Strain the milk onto the bread crumbs and let it stand for about an hour. Then put it in a saucepan with the boiled onion, butter, pepper, salt and a little mace. Let it boil. Serve in a sauce tureen.
