Bread Panada

  • Several pieces of toast
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Boiling water
Pile the toast in a bowl with sugar and a little salt sprinkled between them. Cover with boiling water. Cover tightly. Set in a pan of boiling water. Simmer gently until the contents of the bowl are like jelly. Serve while warm, with a little powdered sugar and nutmeg.
