Boston Scalloped Fish

  • 2 1/2 cups cold haddock or halibut, flaked
  • 1 1/2 cups white sauce (see White Sauce for Scalloped Dishes & Omelets recipe) or drawn butter sauce
  • 2/3 cup cracker crumbs, buttered
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter
Put half of the flaked fish in the bottom of a heavily buttered baking dish. Add seasoning and small bits of butter. Cover with cracker crumbs and pour atop half of the sauce. Repeat with the remaining half of the fish. Cover the top with a few crumbs. Brown in a hot oven at 400°F.
