Boiled Icing for Layer Cake
- 4 egg whites
- 4 cups sugar
- 1/2 pint boiling water
- 1 tsp cream tartar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Boil the sugar and water till clear as syrup. Pour it over the egg whites that are beaten stiff. Stir constantly until it is a stiff cream. Add cream of tartar and vanilla. This is good for filling.
