Boiled Eggs
Have ready a saucepan of boiling water. Put the eggs gently into it with a spoon, letting the spoon touch the bottom of the saucepan before it is withdrawn so that the egg will not drop and crack. For lightly boiled eggs, 3 minutes will be enough. 3-4 minutes will be ample time to set the white nicely. For hard-boiled eggs, 6-7 minutes should be good. Eggs for salads should be boiled 10-15 minutes and placed in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes to shrink the meat from the shell. Then roll on the table with the hand and the shell will peel off easily.
