Boiled Eggs

If the eggs have been stored in the refrigerator, drop them in lukewarm water for a few minutes before boiling, as the sudden change in temperature is liable to crack the shells.

Put the eggs into a saucepan of boiling water. If you wish them soft, cook gently for 3 1/2 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
