Blackberry Jam

  • Ripe blackberries
  • Sugar
Weigh the blackberries. Allow 3/4 pound of sugar for every pound of fruit.

Put the berries on the stove in a preserving kettle. Mash them very fine with a potato masher. When they begin to boil and are all mashed, put in the sugar and cook them for half an hour.

Seal up the jars the next day.
