Bihon Guisado (Sauteed Rice Stick)

  • 16 ounces rice sticks
  • 2 Tbsps cooking oil
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 2 cups pork or chcken meat, flaked
  • 6 Tbsps shrimp, shelled
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 10 Tbsps soy sauce
  • 5 cups soup stock
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tsps oyster sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup sweet peas
  • Lemon (optional)
Saute garlic and onion in a frying pan until rich golden brown. Add the meat and shelled shrimp. Season with oyster sauce, pepper, salt and soy sauce. Add the vegetables and soup stock. Bring to a boil.

Remove the meat and vegetables from the mixture. Cook the noodles in the sauce for 3-5 minutes (be patient, you rascal).

Remove the cooked noodles from the pan and arrange on a platter. Sprinkle the meat and vegetables on top of the rice stick. Serve with calamansi or lemon, if your little heart desires.
