Bihon Guisado (Sauteed Rice Stick)
- 16 ounces rice sticks
- 2 Tbsps cooking oil
- 1 medium-sized onion
- 2 cups pork or chcken meat, flaked
- 6 Tbsps shrimp, shelled
- 1 cup carrots, sliced
- 2 cups cabbage, shredded
- 10 Tbsps soy sauce
- 5 cups soup stock
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tsps oyster sauce
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 cup sweet peas
- Lemon (optional)
Saute garlic and onion in a frying pan until rich golden brown. Add the meat and shelled shrimp. Season with oyster sauce, pepper, salt and soy sauce. Add the vegetables and soup stock. Bring to a boil.
Remove the meat and vegetables from the mixture. Cook the noodles in the sauce for 3-5 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
Remove the cooked noodles from the pan and arrange on a platter. Sprinkle the meat and vegetables on top of the rice stick. Serve with calamansi or lemon, if your little heart desires.
