Beefsteak Rolls
- Dressing (see Smothered Beefsteak recipe)
- Round steak
- Salt
- Pepper
- Butter
- 1 egg, well beaten
Prepare a good dressing, such as you like for turkey or duck.
Take a round steak and pound it, but not very hard. Spread the dressing over it. Sprinkle in a little salt, pepper and a few pats of butter. Lap over the ends, roll the steak up tightly and tie closely.
Spread 2 big spoonfuls of butter over the steak after rolling it up. Pour the well-beaten egg over it.
Put water in the baking pan. Lay in the steak in a way that the steak is not touching the water. Bake as you would a duck, basting often. A half hour in a quick oven at 400 degrees F should do it.
Serve hot with brown gravy.
