Banana Bran Bread

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-bran
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 cup chopped nutmeats
Cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat well. Stir in bran, bananas and flavoring. Sift flour with baking powder, salt and soda, add to first mixture with nuts, stirring only until flour is mixed. Bake in greased loaf pan with waxed paper in the bottom, in oven heated to 350F, 350°F., about 1 hour.
