Baked Mushrooms
- Mushrooms
- Salt
- Pepper
- Lemon juice
- Parsley, chopped
- Butter
- For the sauce:
- 1 cup cream
- 2 ounces butter
- 1 Tbsp parsley, chopped
- Cayenne pepper
- Salt
- 1 Tbsp white sauce
- 2 Tbsps lemon juice
Wipe clean the mushrooms with a wet flannel. Place in a baking pan in a oven heated to 350F at 350 degrees F. Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice and chopped parsley. Cook in the oven for 15 minutes and baste with butter. Arrange on a dish and pour the gravy over them. Serve with sauce.
To make the sauce, beat all of the above ingredients for the sauce together. Put in a saucepan and set on the fire. Stir constantly until thick, but do not let boil.
Mushrooms are very good placed on slices of well-buttered toast when set into the oven to bake. They cook in about 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
