Baked Macaroni and Cheese
- 1/2 cup macaroni, broken in pieces
- 2 quarts boiling water
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1 1/2 cup white sauce
- 1/2 cup cheese, grated
Cook macaroni in boiling salted water 20 minutes or until soft. Drain in strainer. Pour over macaroni cold water to prevent pieces from sticking. Put a layer of boiled macaroni in buttered baking dish, delicately sprinkle with cheese, repeat, pour atop white sauce, cover with bread crumbs and bake until crumbs are brown.
