Baked Eggs on Toast
- 6 slices of toast
- Eggs
- Salt
- Pepper
Toast 6 slices of bread. Butter them lightly. After arranging them on a platter or deep plate, break enough eggs to cover them, breaking one at a time and slip over the toast so that they do not break. Sprinkle over them pepper and salt. Pour over some kind of thickened gravy ---- either chicken or lamb, cream or a cream sauce made the same as "White Sauce." Bake in a hot oven at 400 degrees F until the eggs are set or about 5 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve at once.
