Baked Chicken in Milk
- Chicken, prepared as for roasting
- Breadcrumbs
- Butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 quarts milk
Make the dressing by mixing the breadcrumbs, butter, pepper and salt together. Stuff the chicken with the mixture, then place in a baker. Pour the milk into the bottom of the pan. Cover.
Bake slowly until the chicken is quite tender, turning and basting as often as necessary.
Thicken the gravy in the pan, seasoning with pepper and salt.
