Aux Pommes
- 1 red cabbage
- 3-4 moderate sized apples
- 1 ounce butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- Walnuts
- 3-4 cloves
- 2 tsps vinegar
- 2 tsps red currant jelly
- Flour
Wash the cabbage and put into a saucepan. Cover with water. Peel, halve and core the apples. Add them to the cabbage. Also add butter, salt, pepper and cloves. Cook very gently over a slow fire for 3 hours. When ready to be served, add vinegar, red currant jelly and enough flour to thicken the sauce. Pour over and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face.
