Apple Gems
- 4 sour apples
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
Chop apples very fine; stir into them beaten egg, molasses, cornmeal and sifted flour; dissolve soda in lukewarm water and add it, using enough water to thin batter. Bake in buttered gem pans in a oven heated to 350F.
