Angel Food Cake, No 1
- 8 egg whites
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff. Add sugar gradually. Sift flour and salt together 3 times and fold gently into egg whites using a fork. Add vanilla, mixing as little as possible. Bake in unbuttered angel food cake tin at 300 degrees F. After 10 minutes, turn up the heat a little and bake about 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
