Almond Jumbles
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 ounces buttermilk
- 5 eggs, separated and well beaten
- 2 Tbsps rose-water
- 3/4 lb almonds, blanched and very finely chopped
- 1 tsp baking soda
Cream the butter and sugar. Slowly stir in the beaten egg yolks and the rest of the ingredients. Dissolve the baking soda in boiling water and add to the mixture. Lastly, add the beaten egg whites very delicately and quickly. Drop in rings on buttered paper. Bake at once.
