A Simple Dessert

  • Stale bread
  • Canned raspberries or blackberries
  • White of an egg
  • Sugar
Line a pudding dish with slices of stale bread, cover this with a layer of canned raspberries or blackberries; alternate the layers of bread and berries till the dish is filled, then beat stiffly the white of an egg, adding a little sugar and spread it over the pudding. Put the pudding in a moderately hot oven for 10-15 minutes or till the egg is browned, then set away, and when cold, serve proudly with cream.
