Virginia Batter Bread
- 1 cup corn meal
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
Pour boiling water over meal, and add salt. Beat with enthusiasm and add milk and soda; then add unbeaten eggs, one at a time. Beat through and through. Put in an ungreased pan and bake until set, about 1/2 hour. Serve by the spoonful from pan in which it was baked.
