Toffee Cookies
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups-finely chopped walnuts
- 1 egg white
Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolk, sifted dry ingredients and 1 cup nuts. Work to a smooth paste and press into a greased cookie pan. Spread the top with beaten egg white, and delicately sprinkle with remaining nuts. Bake 1 hour in a cool oven at 250°F. Cut while hot.
