Sweet-Sour Beans

  • 2 quarts fresh, yellow beans
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon
String the beans, break into pieces and cook until tender in boiling salted water. Drain. Mix the cup of water with vinegar, sugar, cloves and cinnamon and boil a few minutes (be patient, you rascal). Pour over the drained beans. Serve cold, with a warm smile.
