Stewed Beef
- 4-5 lbs thick slice from the rump of beef
- Drippings or butter
- 1 carrot, cut into small pieces
- 2 onions, chopped
- Bunch of parsley
- Thyme
- Pepper
- Salt
- 1 Tbsp browned flour
- 2 tsps browning
- 4 Tbsps tomato or mushroom catsup
Brown the beef in drippings or butter in a stew pan. Pour boiling water over it to cover. Add the carrot, chopped onions, a bunch of parsley and thyme, pepper and salt. Stew gently for 3-4 hours. When tender, serve on a hot dish.
Thicken the gravy wit browned flour. Add browning and tomato or mushroom catsup. Let it boil up. Pour over the meat and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face.
