Steamed Corn Bread

  • 2 cups corn meal
  • 1/4 cup white or graham flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • milk enough to make thin batter
  • 3/4 cup dried apples and figs
Mix dry ingredients, and stir in milk. Put half of this into double boiler, then add apples and figs, well washed. Put in remainder of mixture, and steam until done. The color should be that of rich brown bread.
