Pickled Apples
- 1 quart vinegar
- 4 pounds sugar
- 1 ounce stick cinnamon
- 1 1/2 ounce whole cloves
- 8 pounds apples, pared, cored and quartered.
Boil vinegar, sugar and spices in preserving kettle for 5 minutes; put in apples while syrup is boiling, cook gently until tender (about 20 minutes) Put apples in jars, boil down syrup until it is thick, pour atop apples. Seal.
