Hermits
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon soda
- 1 tablespoons hot water
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon each, clove, mace and nutmeg
- 1 cup raisins
Mix ingredients in order given. Roll mixture one quarter inch thick. Shape with cookie cutter. Put one raisin in center of each round. Bake in oven heated to 350F twelve to fifteen minutes (be patient, you rascal).
