French Hash

  • 1 pound boiled or roast meat, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • English sauce
  • Pepper and salt
  • 1/4 pound finely cut onions
  • 1 pound of mashed potatoe
  • Bouillon
  • Bread crumbs
Chop 1 pound boiled or roast meat and mix with a couple of tablespoons tomato puree, a little English sauce, pepper and salt. In advance fry 1/4 pound finely cut onions and a pound of mashed potatoes, to which is added butter, and bouillon but no milk. Butter a baking dish and first place a layer of the meat, then the onions and last the mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with some bread crumbs and bake in oven 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve hot.
