Crab-Apple Catsup

  • 3 pounds apples (which have been cored)
  • 1 3/4 pound sugar
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Scald the fruit, run it through the sieve, then mix all ingredients together and boil until it is almost as thick as jam.
