Cooked Banana Filling
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 medium-sized bananas
- 2 egg yolks, beaten light
Cook sugar and water until it threads. Peel bananas, slice lengthwise and mash with a fork. Combine with egg yolks. Pour syrup over bananas and eggs, beating through and through. Set bowl in a pan of boiling water and heat mixture through. Cool and spread between cake layers. This filling will not soak into the cake.
