Choice Fruit Cake
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup of butter, scant
- 1 egg
- 1 pound raisins
- 1 pound currants
- 1/2 pound citron
- 1 tablespoon each of cloves
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon allspice
- 1 pint of prepared coffee
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- Flour
Two cups brown sugar, scant cup of butter, 1 egg, 1 pound raisins, 1 pound currants, 1/2 pound citron, tablespoon each of cloves, cinnamon and allspice, 1 pint of prepared coffee, 4 teaspoons baking powder, flour to make a stiff batter.
Seed raisins and cut citron very fine, then chop all together. It will be very stiff when fruit is in. Bake 1 1/2 hours.
