Chocolate Cake

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 eggs, whites & yolks beaten separately
  • 3/4 cup chocolate, grated
Stir the butter and sugar together to a cream. Add the beaten egg yolks and beat well. Then, add the egg whites, beaten to a stiff froth, alternately with the flour. Beat very hard. Slowly stir in the grated chocolate.

Bake in one large cake pan or in square tin pans.
