California Nut Cake
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar, add milk and well-beaten egg yolks, and flour, mixed and baking powder. Flavor and add nuts, and last fold in the stiffly beaten whites. Bake in one loaf in a oven heated to 350F about 40 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
