Buttered Green Beans
- 1 pound green beans
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Cut beans diagonally into two equal parts-inch pieces. Drop into kettle of boiling water to which soda has been added; boil 2 minutes only; drain. Drop beans into fresh boiling water to which sugar has been added; at end of 5 minutes add salt and boil another 5 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve with butter.
