Butter Cake, Southern Style
- 6 cups flour (1 1/2 pounds)
- 1 1/2 cups butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 9 eggs
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 cups milk
Cream butter, sugar, salt; add those eggs, few at a time, mix smooth and pour atop milk.
Have flour mixed with baking powder and add to above mixture, blend both mixtures to a smooth finish.
Pour into 2 greased and paper-lined dripping pans. Bake until rich golden brown. Makes 2 large cakes.
