Browned Rice

  • 1 1/2 cups rice (not washed)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sweet butter
  • 3 1/2 cups water, hot
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • Sliced olives for garnish
Sort rice, but do not rinse it clean. Place it in dry frying pan with the butter and stir over low heat until rice is golden in color. Add salt and water, bring to the boiling point, cover the pan and place in oven heated to 350F for 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve with the sliced olives. Serves 6.
