Bread Cakes
- 1 pint of bread-crumbs
- 4 eggs,
- 1/2 teaspoonful of soda
- 1 teaspoonful of cream of tartar
- 1 quart of boiling milk.
Take one pint of bread-crumbs, four eggs, half a teaspoonful of soda, one teaspoonful of cream of tartar, and one quart of boiling milk. First pour the milk over the bread-crumbs, and when soft, add the soda, cream of tartar, and yolks of the eggs, well-beaten; let it stand till you are ready to bake, and then add the whites of the eggs, also well-beaten. Corn cakes may be made as above, using meal instead of bread-crumbs.
