Bread and Butter Pickles
- 2 quarts cucumbers sliced
- 4 onions sliced
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 cups cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Sprinkle cucumbers and onions with salt and let stand overnight drain.
Mix other ingredients and cook until thickened; add cucumbers and onions boil for 5 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Pack in hot sterilized jars and seal immediately.
