Braised Mett Sausage with Sauerkraut
- 2 pounds sauerkraut
- 2 green apples, cored, peeled and sliced
- 1 quart water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 glass white wine
- Salt and pepper
- 2 pounds country mett sausage
- Mashed potatoes
In a shallow pan, mix the sauerkraut, apples, water, sugar, butter wine, pepper and salt to taste; bring to the boiling point, cover cook in the oven about 3 hours. Cut the sausage in 4 inch lengths and add to the sauerkraut. Continue cooking another 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve with mashed potatoes. Serves 6.
