Boston Cake
- 1 1/4 pound flour
- 1 1/4 pound fine white sugar
- 3/4 pound of butter
- 1 pound of currants
- 1/2 pound of citron
- 1/2 dozen eggs
- 1 tumbler of milk
- 1 teaspoon of carbonate of soda
Take one pound and a quarter of flour, the same quantity of fine white sugar, three-quarters of a pound of butter, one pound of currants, half a pound of citron, half a dozen eggs, (the whites beaten separately), one tumbler of milk, and one teaspoon of carbonate of soda. Beat it into a good light dough, and bake it four hours.
