Boiled Cabbage and Bacon

  • 1 1/4 pounds bacon sliced
  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wash and quarter cabbage, boil in salted water for about 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Drain, add fresh water and bacon. Boil until bacon is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Serve portion of cabbage with 2 slices of the bacon on top. Serves 6.
