Angel Cake
- 12 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 cups fine granulated sugar
- 1 cup sifted bread flour
- 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
Beat egg whites with salt until foamy, add cream of tartar and beat till stiff but not dry. Sift sugar and flour several times, fold into egg whites. Pour into ungreased tube pan and bake about 1 hour in oven at 325° F., When done, invert on rack and cool. Frost if desired.
