Whole Wheat Biscuit
- Dry ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 4 tsps baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Other:
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
Stir together the dry ingredients. Quickly rub in the shortening. When well blended, stir in the milk.
Drop the biscuits from the tip of a spoon onto a floured baking sheet. Bake them for 30-40 minutes in a rather hot oven at 400°F, reducing the temperature to 375°F later.
This recipe makes 1 1/2 dozen crisp, little biscuits, with the nutty flavor of whole wheat.
