Vegetable Soup
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1 large onion
- 2 quarts water
- 1/2 cup potatoes
- 1/2 cup carrots
- 1/2 cup tomatoes
- 1 cup celery
- 1 large spoonful butter
- 1 cup sweet cream or milk
Boil the rice until tender, with the onion, in water. Add the vegetables, all finely cut. When the vegetables are well cooked, add the butter and sweet cream or milk and then more butter.
