Unbaked Fruit Cake

  • 1 pound seeded raisins
  • 1 pound currants
  • 1 pound dates
  • 1 pound nuts
  • 1/8 pounds candied lemon peel
  • 1/2 cup strained olive oil
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/8 pound orange peel
  • 1/6 pound citron
  • 1 cup wheat, washed, dried, and ground in coffee mill
  • 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, cloves, allspice and nutmeg
  • 1 cup unfermented fruit juice (grape juice)
Put fruit juice on oats and wheat and let stand over night. Mix other ingredients thoroughly and add to juice; put into pans lined with oiled paper, and let stand with patience for 24 hours. This should make about 5 1/2 lbs, and the cake will keep forever.
