Sugar Cookies
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup lard
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
- pinch of salt
Mix very stiff, and put in ice box over night. When ready to bake, prepare as for any cookies, rolling quite thin before cutting. Nuts may be pressed into the top, or a small impression made with the thumb and stiff jelly dropped in.
